What is the Qibla?

The Qibla is the direction towards the Kaaba, located in the al-Haram Mosque in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. Muslims around the world face this direction to perform their five daily prayers. The direction is calculated using geodesy, following the shortest path on the Earth's surface (great-circle distance).

وَحَيْثُ مَا كُنتُمْ فَوَلُّوا وُجُوهَكُمْ شَطْرَهُ
