When having doubts or whispers
أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ
A'udhu billahi minash-shaytanir-rajim.
I seek refuge in Allah from Satan the accursed.
Virtue
The Prophet ﷺ commanded whoever suffers from satanic whispers (waswas) to seek refuge in Allah from Satan and to stop thinking about it.
آمَنْتُ بِاللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِ
Amantu billahi wa rusulihi.
I believe in Allah and His messengers.
Virtue
The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Satan comes to one of you and says: Who created this? Who created that? Until he says: Who created your Lord? If it reaches that point, let him seek refuge in Allah and stop.'
هُوَ الْأَوَّلُ وَالْآخِرُ وَالظَّاهِرُ وَالْبَاطِنُ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ
Huwal-Awwalu wal-Akhiru wadh-Dhahiru wal-Batinu wa Huwa bikulli shay'in 'Alim.
He is the First and the Last, the Manifest and the Hidden, and He has knowledge of all things.
Virtue
The Prophet ﷺ advised reciting this verse (Surah Al-Hadid, v.3) to repel doubts and satanic whispers concerning faith.
اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ، اللَّهُ الصَّمَدُ، لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ، وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ
Allahu Ahad. Allahus-Samad. Lam yalid wa lam yulad. Wa lam yakun lahu kufuwan ahad.
Allah is One. Allah is the Self-Sufficient. He begets not, nor was He begotten. And there is none equal to Him.
Virtue
The Prophet ﷺ recommended spitting lightly to the left three times, seeking refuge in Allah, then reciting Surah Al-Ikhlas, and ceasing to think about these doubts.
